SEND

At Elgin Pre-school, we are committed to being an inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual.

What is the SEND Local Offer?

The “Local Offer” is a requirement for all local authorities and education providers in the UK. It is a comprehensive guide outlining the support, services, and facilities available for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

By publishing our Local Offer, we aim to provide parents and carers with clear, transparent information about how we identify and support children who may need extra help during their time with us.

  • We provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where children with special educational needs feel safe, understood, and valued.
  • Our staff take time to get to know each child’s individual needs, strengths, and interests.
  • We work closely with parents to ensure a consistent, supportive approach between home and pre-school.
  • Individual support plans are created to meet each child’s specific needs and support their development.
  • Activities and resources are carefully adapted to ensure children with SEND can fully access learning and play.

How we support your child

We offer calm, sensory-friendly spaces to support children who may need help with regulation.

Staff use tailored communication strategies, including visual supports and simple language, to aid understanding.

We provide additional support, including small group or one-to-one interactions, where appropriate.

We work in partnership with external professionals to ensure children receive the support they need.

We focus on building confidence, independence, communication, and social skills in a supportive environment.
